Review of Look at Me (2004) by Alicia C — 01 Jan 2008
Fantastic, very funny, and now firmly one of my favourites. A comedy laced with an edge of bitterness; the relationships in the film are marked by their delicate balance of tenderness and cruelty. Etienne's paternal feelings towards Lolita are mostly a clumsy sort of affection that veers easily into a sort of callused negligence.
Poignant, funny, un-selfconscious, and very very entertaining.
