Review of Look at Me (2004) by Flora G — 09 Apr 2009
The English title captures the theme far better than the French, "Comme une Image." Lolita is desperate for her father's attention and approval but he expects the world to revolve around him.
Due to his fame as a writer, by and large it does. I first saw Jean-Pierre Bacri in "Gout des Autres" where he was very convincing as a bourgeois businessman hanging around a theatrical crowd who make fun of him.
This time he comes across, again very convincingly, as a jerk. The choral music is beautiful. There is not a lot of plot but I was completely captivated. I understand why it won a best screenplay award at Cannes.
