Review of Lonesome Jim (2005) by Mari J — 20 Mar 2008
Watchable for an insomniac, PART 2. I don't know: not a bad one but annoying sometimes. This movie is about a dysfunctional family and portrays almost mildly autistic way to communicate by the main character.
Almost all characters in this film are emotionally handicapped except perhaps children who are like the "saviours". The movie reminds me of something: maybe A. Kaurismäki's work somehow? The character of "Uncle Evil" is quite hilarious and prevents the movie slipping towards too desperate.
Steve Buscemi is still better in front of the camera than behind it, for my opinion. Finally totally of topic I have to mention that "Lonesome Jim" was partly filmed in Goshen, Indiana where certain Howard Hawks, my favourite director of all times, was born.
Pretty cool! :) WATCHED: March 19, 2008.
