Review of Lonesome Jim (2005) by Michael T — 20 Mar 2009
Oddly charming and very entertaining. It was a little hard for me to get into in the beginning. I found some of the principle characters too uninteresting, even dislikable, to care about. But that soon changes and that is part of what is so wonderful about the film.
You come to understand, feel for and care about the characters. There are some wonderful performances here, too. Casey Affleck has a much lower celebrity profile than his brother, but he makes better films.
Indeed, best work Ben has done in a while was as a writer/director of a film that starred his broth Casey, Gone Baby Gone. It was an outstanding film.
