Review of Lonely Hearts (2006) by Tomas L — 08 Nov 2007
I really like Jared Leto in this one. I think Salma Hayek was good but I think she was miscast. Apparently the real Martha Beck was an unattractive obease woman. I think if they would have matched an actress to that image, her tortured, sociopath character would have been more believable.
This is a character who shouldn't be attractive in any way and Salma just can't pull that off. Like I said, her acting isn't bad, just miscast. John Travolta and James Gandolfini's characters are hard to care about.
I don't even watch the Sopranos but Gandolfini typecasts himself in my mind. Travolta doesn't do a bad job but I would have liked to see the side stories with his son and girlfriend actually go somewhere.
Enjoyable but could have been better.
