Review of London to Brighton (2006) by Steve D — 04 Feb 2008
Bleak is certainly the word, but don't forget the very ending: more than just a mere glimpse of hope in a dark place. It's not easy watching, and not for the "tender of ear" either, language-wise, but the actors put their heart and soul into this, and the story is incredibly heartfelt, convincing and tense.
I'm intrigued by what Paul Andrew Williams has done with his latest, "The Cottage" - a whole other ball game by all accounts - but he's convinced me he'd be more than capable by the way he's handled the nuances of this tale.
Superb.
