Rough and ready, and at times pretty disturbing. "Gritty" is a word that keeps getting used, and I can't really think of a decent substitute. So, "gritty" it is. Lorraine Stanley ("Kelly") could be one to watch in the future; she turns out to be surprisingly charismatic here, especially in the way she behaves around the girl.
