Review of Lolita (1962) by Lucy D — 28 Apr 2008
Contains one of THE best opening scenes I've ever witnessed ! Peter Sellers' interpretation of the chameleon character he plays is unbelievably good. It doesn't contain as many of the thoughts of the professor as I thought it might, but maybe that's Kubrick's way of trying to keep it fairly tasteful, as the book is certainly much more shocking in places.
But it's a dark, strong and thrilling adaptation, enough to leave you tingerling with revulsion.
