Review of Lolita (1962) by Greg B — 03 Aug 2008
Even though this film is not really that controversial by today's standards, there were still plenty of scenes that made me kind of uncomfortable. Nothing to do with the (shhh) s-e-x, but the way everyone is just so dysfunctional.
I'm a big Kubrick fan .. I love the way he puts a distinctive spin on a film, even though he doesn't really have one particular 'Kubrick' style, and this is a good example of that. But, by far, my favorite thing about this film is Peter Sellers.
I think I wore a groove in the first 15 minutes of the dvd .. one of the best opening scenes ... ever!
