Review of Lolita (1962) by Barry R — 14 Mar 2012
Completely leaves out -- not surprisingly -- Humbert Humbert's reveries as he crushes on the nymphet: "O Lo, thou art my girl / As Vee was Poe's, and Bea was Dante's, / And what little girl / Would not like to twirl / In a circular skirt and scanties?" Limitiations of the age and the medium.
The climactic revelation, "Reader, I was not even the first!" is barely hinted at. But great fun to touch base after all these years.
