Review of Lolita (1962) by Zoe L — 24 Aug 2012
The performances by Mason, Sellers, Lyon and Winters make this film a mesmerizing tale inside it's own world. The dialogue is sharp and tense and the impending doom suggested by the first scene pushes the tension into an odd, suspenseful comedy.
Only Kubrick can pull off this kind of work, along with shifting our sympathies and emotions throughout the two and a half hours.
