Review of Lolita (1962) by Drew R — 18 Aug 2014
Really cool film. The way it portrays the pedophilia makes it feel less icky to watch. I suppose that's because the film was released in 1962 and expect if released today it would be a lot more shocking and disturbing.
However, that doesn't change the fact that in between its tight script and moments of darker humour, it does represent an illegal and cringey bit of passion. Apparently the book is more hardcore and it's not always Lolita that is initiating, but again, any intellectual adult should be smart enough to know they've gone too far.
Also, can I just say I must be way too prude because I much prefer implied sexual scenes (PS: they never even say the word "Sex") instead of the way today's cinema insists on undressing everybody in front of us.
