It's a shame that the ingenious concept isn't fully capitalized upon. As far as tone is concerned, everything goes out the window once the characters leave the habitat in the worst way imaginable.
Fortunately, there are enough good things here to influence science fiction for decades to come. At least until Michael Bay met the copied material.
