Review of Little Women (1933) by Katie S — 30 Aug 2008
Christopher Columbus! It felt very much like a play, but I know that's because it was made in 1933... all the fancy camera moves and such we're used to today weren't used then :) The cast was great and the film really touched on the major plot points of the book.
Amy March is still one of my least favorite literary/film characters of all time... though I didn't hate Amy in this film as much as I do in the 1994 version, I still find that character to be so selfish and nothing but good happens to her (She gets to go to Europe AND marry Laurie?! No fair).
I thought Hepburn made a great Jo March... such a big range/change of emotions and feelings as Jo arcs from tomboy to a Little Woman... well played, Hapburn. Well played.
