Review of Limelight (1952) by Ryan M — 13 May 2010
This is a pure Chaplin film all the way. An emotional film about love and life and death, it weaves a simple and powerful story that sticks true to the motifs of his earlier films. That it manages this success despite some heavy-handed acting, directing and philosophizing is credit to Chaplin's genius.
But, never mind that, this entire movie should be worth seeing just for 15 minutes of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin performing together.
