Review of Lights Out (2016) by Kevin F — 22 Aug 2016
If you have a fear of the dark already, this probably isn't for you! Lights Out does have some decent creepy scenes and is slightly better than the run of mill horror film. It does however suffer from a lack of originality by borrowing/stealing ideas from previous successful horror films and also uses many horror film cliches all the way through.
The film is based on a short story and that's pretty obvious from the new elaborated back story, which must have taken all of 10 minutes to come up with and really didn't make much sense at all.
It's 81 minutes long which is very short for any film, but it should manage to keep you tense throughout - even though the ending is very predictable. If you're looking for a scare then it's worth a go, just don't expect anything mind blowing.
3 out of 5 stars.
