Lights Out features some very creepy imagery, but those eerie moments are surrounded by a predictable storyline and melodramatic acting. The original short film this movie is based on is less than three minutes long, and it seems they had to cram in a lot of filler and repeat themselves to get this concept up to 81 minutes.
Still, this is an entertaining PG-13 horror movie that's good for a few chills.
