Review of Lights Out (2016) by Michael T — 28 Jul 2016
I must say, this movie needs a serious rewrite. An hour 21 minutes is way too short. Here's my rewrite: (possible spoiler).
Child protective service rescue 2 kids in basement from their abusive dad. He later died from drug overdosed. One suffered from skin disordered. Trying out new medical treatment but things gone wrong. The other kid witness gone shocked/depressed and passed out.
Present time. A family (father, mother, teenage daughter and younger brother or use another daughter might be better for rewrite story for continuation from past) heading to vacation. Mother forgot medicine at home, wanted to go back but father said no worry, it's a short trip. Once coming back, mother started noticing things disappearing, and shadow forming here and there. Wanted to get medicine but nowhere to be found. Then she started talking to herself. Father wanted to get her treatment and here's where the movie should begin. Couple advises are: Diane should have no shape like the Grudge/Ju-Oh. More scary that way. And instead of best friend, sister would've been better.
The only silver lining this movie has is the story is original and incorporate some funny moment (cellphone is the best part, lol.). C grade.
