Review of Lifeboat (1944) by Ryan H — 29 Nov 2008
Solid Hitchcock, nothing stood out to me about it in terms of fitting into his canon. Although, of course, a woman is the first to go mad and die, so is the case with Hitch's hatred towards women. But that setting in one boat never gets old, the dynamic between the survivors and who to trust remains suspenseful.
It is funny, the more I watch Hitchcock films the more I just say, solid. Many of his pictures have so little flaws so they do not jump out as brilliant; more than anything he has many great films but few actual classics where he uses every frame for what they are worth.
