Review of Life of Pi (2012) by Mloy X — 13 Sep 2013
The Writer (Rafe Spall): You're a Hindu Catholic?
Pi (Irrfan Khan): We get to feel guilty before hundreds of gods.
Excellent! A definite must-see movie. Visually stunning, this movie is definitely a feast for the eyes. Like most Asian cinematic production, the story unfolds slowly but your patience is rewarded in the end and boy does it pay off big-time, sitting through the two-hours is well worth it just to listen to the twist in the ending... and I love a good twist. Ang Lee is a cool director, his film are always so beautifully directed and well executed. The cast was superb, Irfan Khan (adult Pi) and Suraj Sharma (Pi at 17) did such a magnificent job, they can give Castaway Tom Hanks a run for his money; their acting was so genuine and so convincing I can watch their performances for hours. It was just epic. The story was beautiful and I can't wait to read the book, if it's as good as this film, I know it'll be an instant favorite. Awesome movie, gorgeous CG, top notch acting with a marvelous director at the helm, how can you possibly go wrong?
