Review of Life of Pi (2012) by Johnny Z — 20 Apr 2014
Director Ang Lee won the Best Director Oscar for this enchanting, surrealistic coming-of-age story. This is Lee's best work to date. Claudio Miranda, the DP, does wonders with 3D stereography and lighting all throughout the picture.
Miranda won for Best Cinematography, and his work is magical at times. Composer Mychael Danna took home the Oscar for Best Original Score, and his music is the perfect complement to the images of Lee and Miranda.
Finally, Suraj Sharma captivates the audience as the young adult Pi...Sharma exudes an intriguing blend of adult resolve and boyish naivete.
