Review of Life Is Sweet (1991) by Emma B — 26 Oct 2009
A thoughtful, bittersweet microcosm of reality courtesy of kitchen-sink, social drama guru Mike Leigh. Aside from a rather irritating Spall, the rest of the actors seem to defy every guidebook in acting and inject vivid spontaneity to this little picture, with Alison Steadman's good-natured Mum and Jane Horrocks' wildly precarious daughter Nicola stealing every moment they are in.
RATING: A-.
