Life is Beautiful is a very well balanced film about the small gems in life. It emphasizes self-sacrifice, selflessness and the power of love, and does so through comedic and dramatic methods. Robert Benigni pulls off a feat of a lifetime not only directing this epic piece, but starring and carrying it on his shoulders.

Many criticize the film for downplaying the holocaust or poorly portraying life in a concentration camp, however, the film is not about the holocaust. The film is about love and family values, such as self-sacrifice, and it does so perfectly, hitting the audience exactly where it is most painful.

A very well crafted Italian film for the ages.
