Review of Life Is Beautiful (1997) by Gavin P — 21 Jun 2013
Fantastic look at the impact of World War II on one Italian man, from a very fresh perspective. Made to look like it was filmed in the 60s or 70s, it does well to set up Guido's character and then introduces his cute son, who provides him with his courage and intelligent way to keep them both alive in the Nazi concentration camp.
There's some moments when you think his optimism must break, but his sense of humour and bravery for his son carries him through. Great ending and quite uplifting, given the subject matter!
