Review of Leviathan (2014) by Erik'as J — 16 Feb 2017
This was a great Russian drama that's wonderfully directed. The town it was filmed in is beautiful and the actors were very good. It's 2 hours long but it is entertaining enough to keep your attention.
It's not depressing like some reviewers claim but it is more realistic than other dramas. It deals with serious issues but it's not sad. Other reviewers mention that the Russians are portrayed as drunks in this movie.
There was a lot of vodka drinking but I think it was part of the story and considering the situation the characters were dealing with, it was understandable. I watch a lot of foreign movies but this was my first Russian movie.
If you like long dramas with a somewhat serious plot, then you will enjoy this.
