Review of Letter from an Unknown Woman (1948) by Noam S — 15 Aug 2007
If any film fulfils the potential of the medium, as expressive as painting, as evoactive of the range of human emotions as great literature, this film does. A bit of Godard-like hyperbole perhaps, but the revelation of character through framing and camera movement is second to none.
Absolutely heartbreaking, and its exposure of our frailities and delusions is ruthless.
