The images of this movie were something special and the fact that it takes place in a time were a majority of the people were leaving small beautiful farms like the one the Ludlows were living on and moving to bigger cities gave this movie a unique feel, but the heart and soul of this movie just didn't resonate with me.

I feel Legends of the Fall showed me too much family distress and sadness and not enough of what I would have like to see with a family that lives in the open country with Indian helpers, simply there was not enough fun and enjoyment to complement all the sadness and family tension.

I don't think there was a scene after the first 20 minutes of the film that showed the characters to be genuinely happy. Also this movie has to be the biggest tease, Anthony Hopkins does a great job of playing Colonel Ludlow for the first half of this movie, but then due to family discourse has a stroke and so you're forced to watch all of Anthony Hopkins' talent go to waste with him trying to make stroke faces and noises, which is not only unpleasant but very sad as well.

If you have the time and want to see beautiful landscapes and a sad movie than this is the one for you.
