Review of L'Eclisse (1962) by Sergio M — 19 Aug 2010
Beautiful photography, beautiful direction, beautiful shots, beautiful composition, beautiful 60s design, beautiful monica vitti, amazing looking futuristic tower-thing at the beginning... but nothing else, apart from having an incredible cast.
the story? not there. I was rather disappointed, to be honest, after having liked la notte and loved l'avventura. this is an masterclass on style, but that's it. maybe it's because I quite simply couldn't care less about stockbrokers and their dealings.
and antonioni makes you seat through 20-30mins of strockbrokers shouting and doing their stupid business. sheer torture. it felt like 3 hours.
