One of the most moving films ever made. Very difficult to watch, but completely worth it, as the film gives us a harrowing look at a man (Cage) and his struggle with, and submission to alcoholism, who spirals into despair, and, losing everything that he loves (wife, kid, job) because of his addicition, decides that his life is pointless. He withdraws every penny he owns, and heads for Las Vegas, with the intention of drinking himself to death. Here he meets a hooker (Shue) and the two form an unlikely romance.

Leaving Las Vegas is, at it's heart, a twisted, haunting, dark, beautiful love story, as well as a film about the human condition.

Shue is great in her best ever role, Director Mike Figgis pulls no punches, and Nicolas Cage in an Oscar winning (and career best) role, is out of this world.
