Oddly, this is the kind of film that makes you proud to be an American. The people who live in the woods have all the traditional American virtues – fiercely independent, smart, hard-working, loyal, and kind-hearted.
The film is also beautiful looking and beautifully paced. The acting is superb and completely believable. America also looks gorgeous. Debra Granik is a great director, and the actors are completely believable, especially Ben Foster and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie.
