Review of Leatherheads (2008) by Bradley H — 01 Apr 2009
Surprisingly good effort from director George Clooney and one of the best sports flicks to come around in a few years. Set in the 1920s, Clooney, Renee Zellweger, and John Krasinski each turn in charmingly strong performances and bypass most of the stereotypical cliches that are irritatingly rampant in modern sports films.
The story is simplistic yet engaging, fun, and told in an effective manner. It's not exactly laugh out loud funny, but "Leatherheads" is an enjoyable 2-hour movie nonetheless.
