Review of Leap of Faith (1992) by Mark M — 13 Mar 2006
Steve Martin is very charming in this comedy-drama about a group of con-artists who go around like preachers and conning people into giving them money for salvation. Martin not only shows off his great timing and wit, but he shows a little of his dramatic side, which is also excellent. He could definitely be one of the comedians like Bill Murray and Jim Carrey who can make that transition into dramatic roles. There are some cliché and forced scenes such as the crippled boy who wants to be saved and walk again, but it all works well. Surprisingly charming and witty most of the time, but also dramatic and touching when needed..
