Review of Le Mans (1971) by Anthony S — 13 Jul 2008
This is quite easily one of the best films ever made... anyone who criticises it for apparently not having a story shouldn't be watching a racing film. If they had put a normal character based plot into the film instead of just hinting at a love triangle, it would have been a damp squib of a film like Pearl Harbour.
As it is Le Mans stands on it's own as a monument to what racing used to be, before it got overrun by marketing men and armchair safety experts.
