Review of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by Jonathan O — 17 Jan 2011
It has an interesting story to be told, but I just can't understand the "greatness" and hype this movie still receives. All the actors were played by Englishmen, even the Arab Prince. Peter O'Toole wore a pound of makeup and looked like a drag queen dancing around in his cape.
However, the worst drawback from this film is that the audience never gets the why and historical perspective about what Lawrence's efforts yeiled in the Middle East, WWI, and beyond.
