Review of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by Soren W — 04 Mar 2013
Simply one of the greatest films of all time. The cinematography is outstanding, the score is outstanding, the storytelling, acting, everything is superb. I guess some of the makeup is a bit wanting. General Allenby has a perpetual five o'clock shadow where his head was shaved, and Anthony Quinn's nose is too large, a ridiculous shape, and the putty is not even close to the right shade to boot.
Other than that, near perfection. And to make something this big without CG will never be done again. Hundreds of real men on hundreds of real horses in hundreds of square miles of real desert, and in 70mm Technicolor glory.
Just terrific.
