Review of L'Avventura (1960) by Sean T — 29 Oct 2009
This is indeed one the the most magnificent films I've ever seen. Antonioni has his ups and downs in his film career, but the film lives up to its reputation of being his masterpiece. How you can show in film and with amazing acting, what can never really be expressed about love.
...The story is just a story. A rich heiress disappears during a yacht week-end at the sea. Her fiance, and her best friend find love, in each other, while on the road to seek after her. It's the How it's played that counts.
Not to mention the wonderful aesthetics.
