Review of Late Spring (1949) by Sean T — 17 Oct 2009
One of the most sublime, transcendent and yet subtle films I've seen...possibly ever. Ozu crafts a story that shows one of the most incredible father-daughter dynamics put to film, gracefully done in such a way that makes the viewer feel like they're a part of the family.
Setsuko Hara gives an amazing performance supplemented wonderfully by Chishu Ryu. The speech Somiya gives to his daughter about marriage near the end is something I want to hang on my wall someday.
