Review of Late Spring (1949) by Özkan T — 04 Jan 2014
Wow this was spectacular. Setsuko Hara gave a beautiful performance. The movie had so many emotion from joy, jealousy, sadness, happiness, and loneliness. The script along with the actors helped convey all of them perfectly.
Ozu exposes us to the world of Japan. He uses various aspects like the tea ceremony as well as the traditional play. He also explores the affects of the war on Japan, including the American influence.
(i.e. coca, cola sign, baseball, Gary Cooper). Another masterpiece from a brilliant director. A must see for any movie fan.
