Review of Late Spring (1949) by Stella D — 27 Oct 2008
Best Ozu post-war, this one is a heartbreaking masterpiece, the one who brought to perfection the intuitions of some of his past works. Here we find all the moments of void, the camera placed almost on the floor (50 mm as asual) and the touch of genius of the maste - as an exemple: the sequence in which Noriko's face is followed by the pot near the window, and then the face again.
Personally I loved the moment of the beach, and the cycling scene, truly poetic. A must-see.
