Review of Late Phases (2014) by Greg B — 25 Nov 2014
I was really disappointed in this movie. We very rarely get good werewolf movies, so I was excited to see this so high on the Tomatometer. The movie starts off promising with a good kill at the beginning to get the viewer hooked, but then it settles into it's story telling of a blind man moving into town, who's having issues with his estranged son.
A lot of the story telling ideas just didn't work for me. The movie is never truly as interesting as it's trailer, it never gets scary. There is really competent acting going on, and everyone is acting like they think they're making a good movie, but there's nothing really interesting going on here for the viewer.
The final kicker for me was the werewolf. It looked more silly than scary. The wolf on the cover invokes more terror. There was one scene where a werewolf jumps onto the hood of a car and it just looked awkward.
This isn't a terrible movie, there are good performances, it's just not anything more than a watch once and forget about it movie.
