Review of L'Atalante (1934) by Maria L — 22 Jul 2008
The most exciting thing about watching this movie is wondering where Vigo is going to put the camera next. He rarely goes for the conventional, instead giving us the intriguing and unusual shot after shot.
He's almost unable to contain himself, constantly shifting to find a new and interesting angle. It's a real treat. I don't know if I would call it a masterpiece, but it's definitely an excellent work.
