Review of L'Atalante (1934) by James M — 14 May 2007
A beautifully crafted piece of art! The French prove that their films are as good as any with L'Atalante. The story is so simple, yet entrancing and every minute is entertaining. The music was fantastic and I enjoyed every minute that the one guy (can't remember the actor or character) who was crude and dirty was on screen. Very funny. Great film.
Update 5/15/07: I bumped this up a star because the three stars were from my critical days, and I have sinced moved on. I've also thought this a beautiful film but noticed that I had not changed its rating.
