Love the cinematography. Michel Simon is pretty crazy, but I enjoyed his performance. the overall story really speaks to the different sides to love and devotion. Parlo's character is adorable--her affection for everyone, particularly her new husband, seems truly genuine.

the husband doesn't exactly make himself lovable. he's pretty childish--easily made jealous and prone to temper tantrums and fits of sulking. even for all his BS, though, his wife still loves him and wants to come back to him.

I have to wonder, though, if Simon hadn't been around, would the husband have manned up and gone after her himself? I kinda doubt it, actually. a touching love story, but with strings attached. not an outstanding film, but still a welcome addition to its genre.
