Review of Last Shift (2014) by Mike B — 01 Jan 2016
The film does an excellent job of building tension over the first half hour, but the second act drags on after we start to find out what's really going on in the police station. Harkovy does an excellent job pretty much carrying this film be herself, but the BS meter really goes through the roof as the character makes ridiculous and illogical decisions over and over again throughout the course of the 2nd and 3rd acts.
Even after she begins to think she's just hallucinating, it was kind of hard to maintain sympathy for her knowing she could just walk out of the situation at any time by leaving the station. Still, it was a well constructed and directed film.
The creep meter is high and and the resolution was just decent enough to pull 3 stars from me.
