The world is about to end at midnight. There are only a few hours to go...

We're never told why the world is going to end, but it doesn't matter. This film is about the various ways in which different people might respond to the knowledge that they have only a few hours left to live.

It sounds like it would be a depressing premise, but the movie handles the characters and situations with an understated sympathy which is not quite uplifting, but strangely peaceful.

For me, I think the big question would probably come down to what piece of music should be the last I'd ever hear. I might go with Beethoven, which the central character in the film considers, although he seems to end up with Guantanamera.

Now that IS depressing!

Weird people like me, who harbour a latent, perverse death wish, probably would like to see the big movie studios produce more films like this. But sadly (or perhaps thankfully) there are only a few of us, so the market isn't worth it.

But at least someone's doing it.
