Review of Last Life in the Universe (2003) by Jon C — 17 Nov 2007
My first impression after seeing this film was that it was the most tamely surreal film I'd seen in a long time. By the end, I cared so much about the characters. Ratanaruang skillfully sets the audience up for traps left and right with clever writing, a slightly disjointed narrative a-la-Pulp Fiction (if somewhat unclear at times), and beautifully simple cinematography by Christopher Doyle.
It's definitely worth looking into if you enjoy films about suicidal, hopeless romantics.
