Review of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life (2003) by Rod E — 03 Apr 2013
Oh god where do I begin with this movie? It's no better than the sequel, it's worse. There was no story to follow. It had nothing to do with the games. And not even Angelina Jolie seemingly can't save this movie when she was perfect in the first film.
The movie was directed by Jan de Bont who whilst successful on Speed gave us the shitstorm Twister, the shipwreck Speed 2 and the nightmare remake of The Haunting (1999). What we liked about The original Tomb Raider was that she was the female Indiana Jones which was what she was in the first movie.
Here, she is now the female James Bond which doesn't work at all for the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider franchise both for the movies and the games in the future so don't try changing it. I have never reviewed a movie this bad in ages and not even all those James Bond movies I reviewed were this bad.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life gets a 2/10.
