Review of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life (2003) by Charlie P — 29 Mar 2018
When the mythical Pandora's Box ends up getting stolen by the ruthless bio-weapons designer Jonathan Reiss (Ciaran Hinds), Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie), along with a former marine-turned criminal named Terry Sheridan (Gerard Butler) are both assigned to retrive the artifact before it's powers can be unleashed...
Although the first film ended up as one of the better examples of the forever-doomed video-game movie adaptations out there, Jan De Bont's sequel suffers so much in terms of narrative stutucture and the editing is so bad, even MTV music videos were easier to anaylse than this.
Angelina Jolie still manages to shine as Lara Croft, some of the action set-peices are well done and Alan Silvestri gives a better, more memorable score than the first film's forgettable soundtrack. However, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life is an overall dull adventure that is better off buried and left in the Sands of Time for all eternity.
