Review of Lakeview Terrace (2008) by Jay L — 23 Jul 2010
Lakeview Terrace is a compelling and extremely tense movie. Neil Labute directs a great film filled with great performances. Samuel L. Jackson shines in one of the best performances of his career. Kerry Washington and Patrick Wilson also give great performances.
A newlywed couple, played by Washington and Wilson, move into a new home to start their life together. As they get settled in, they meet their neighbor, played by Jackson, and notice some rather disturbing things about him. The neighbors start to dispute one another verbally, then racially, then physically as they try to hash out their differences. This premise makes for some extremely tense edge of your seat moments. A very well made and well written movie on racially motivated issues and stereotypes, well worth a look.
