Review of Lake of Fire (2006) by Sonia S — 16 Jan 2009
Tony Kaye is the only filmmaker to examine the abortion issue in all of its complexity and in its extremities...and in doing so not to leave his audience with a sense of manipulation. In "Lake of Fire" Kaye appears completely unafraid to dissect every facet of the issue, and wishes to find voices from every corner of the country to express their opinions.
Kaye's ends his long and intense film with a healthy and fair-minded agnosticism, but doesn't pull any punches with showing the true insanity the issue inspires in America. After watching "Lake of Fire", I may not know how I feel about the morality of abortion, but I do know that in their use of the issue the Religious Right has done nothing less than wage a life-long war on women and inspired the kind of terror campaign that most would find unthinkable in this country.
